About Cuppa Joad
What is a cup of Joad? It’s a dose of the best literature—a daily indulgence in books for everyone who loves to read.
Cuppa Joad is a blog about books, created for book lovers by the book lovers at Alibris. We’ve named it in honor of the Joad family, from The Grapes of Wrath. John Steinbeck’s masterpiece towers among the giants in world literature. It won the 1940 Pulitzer Prize, was an integral factor in Steinbeck’s 1962 Nobel Prize, and is still read today in nearly 30 languages. Grapes continues to sell millions of copies, enlisting successive generations to follow the Joad family on their exodus through timeless pages and a broken American dream. Indeed, this classic novel is rooted in the United States, but its message of protesting injustice and seeking solace is universal.
We’re inspired by great books—indelible literature like Steinbeck’s tale of the Joads. Please read along with us as we celebrate, one cup at a time.
